Arabic, Islamic Studies and Qatar History
The Hamilton International School prides itself on our teaching to enhance Qatari values, heritage and identity, and the respect for other peoples and cultures.
Arabic Language Studies
Learning Arabic is crucial for both cognitive development and the maintenance of cultural identity. Our Arabic curriculum is concept and enquiry-based in line with the Qatar National Curriculum and Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE). Arabic is compulsory for Arab nationals, and Arabic as a foreign language is optional for students through to Grade 11.
Successful learning in these subjects, as any other subject, depends heavily on high quality teaching. Just as we enhance the curriculum in other subjects, we also ensure the learning of Arabic is inspiring and relevant to students. Our Arabic colleagues work hand-in-hand with English class teachers to ensure a consistent experience for children, and equally amazing progress. The Hamilton International School provides the highest possible standard of Arabic through guided reading and talking for writing to develop students’ skills by using 21st century skills in teaching.
Islamic Studies
It is compulsory for all Muslim students to study Islamic Studies. In the Islamic studies, we develop the students into independent, responsible citizens by using a ‘skills-based’ approach.
Islamic studies is taught in Arabic for Arab Muslims and in English for non-Arab Muslims.
Qatar History and Citizenship
In Qatar History and Citizenship, students learn about the important role that Qatar plays in the Gulf region and the world, Qatar’s economic and social growth with a focus on Qatar’s relationship with other countries and international organizations.
Qatar History is offered to students from Grades 1 to 9.
