Overview
Children from all nationalities are welcome to apply. The Hamilton International School gives priority to siblings of current students; however this does not guarantee admission.
All children applying for a place, including those with priority, are required to pass an entrance assessment or an entrance test. Applicants who pass the test are offered a place or will remain on our waiting list. When a place becomes available in the school, all candidates on the list will be considered. If a period of six months of passing the initial assessment has passed, a child may be required to sit a second assessment.
If a child fails an entrance assessment the school will reassess at the school’s discretion.
Applications can only be submitted online and must be completed in full.
Applications are considered for the Academic Year in which they apply.
Family Applications
If your application is for more than one child, each child will need to pass the assessment or interview for their application to be successful. Not all family members will be guaranteed places.
Sibling Applications
In November of each year, we invite current parents to apply for siblings for the following academic year. Parents/Guardians must ensure they have provided all the relevant information in their application, including details of behavioral, social or academic support needs. If information is withheld and Hamilton International School is unable to meet your child’s educational and/or social/behavioral needs, we reserve the right to withdraw the application/school place.
Grade Levels
Children will only be admitted to the appropriate grade by age as detailed during the initial online enquiry form. If your child is currently studying in a school in Qatar please refer to the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE) rules for transferring children.

In-Year Applications
While the school year starts in August, we do accept children throughout the year depending on the availability of seats and MOEHE rules and regulations.
End of Year Reports
All children joining are required to provide a copy of the previous End of Grade school report together with any interim schooling reports.
To comply with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE) requirements, school reports coming from a school outside Qatar must be attested. The attestation process is similar to the steps followed by the sponsor to receive his/her work permit and family visa. Please consult with sponsor company’s HR department for assistance, or questions.
The attested school report is required by the Hamilton International School’s Registrar when the student is in Qatar. Non-attested school reports are acceptable for the application process only.
Attestation in most countries, entails:
- The official stamp or signature of the school on the school report
- The school report is to be translated into English
- The stamp by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the issuing country
- The stamp by a Qatar Embassy nearest to you. Please note that for the UAE, an embassy stamp from the Oman Embassy, instead of the Qatar Embassy, is valid.
Children will only be accepted into the same grade or progressive grade as appropriate, and in conjunction with the MOEHE equivalency table. Should there be a discrepancy between the grade offered by our admissions team, and the grade as per the MOEHE guidelines, we will accept the child as per the MOEHE guidelines.
Behavior
The Hamilton International School believes that good student behavior is fundamental in enabling the best learning experience possible. Every student enrolled at the school should have a positive attitude to learning and respect for the school community.
Class Sizes
Class sizes will not exceed 26 students.
