Remy grew up in France and, after completing university, decided to embark on a teaching career in the UK.
This journey eventually led him to Qatar, where he has continued to develop his professional career. Remy
has taught in the France, the UK, Switzerland, and Qatar.
Remy holds a Bachelor Degree in Musicology from the Université de Bourgogne and a Diplôme d’Études
Musicales (DEM) in performing the saxophone from the French conservatoire, which is equivalent to the
Fellowship of the Royal Schools of Music (FRSM). Additionally, he has earned a Gold Medal in Music Theory
from the Paris Conservatoire and the Diploma of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music
(DipABRSM) in performance.
Throughout his life, Remy has been deeply involved in the music scene wherever he lived. He has been a
member of various wind bands, ensembles (including quartets and octets), and has performed with both cover
bands and original bands. His musical journey has been marked by notable performances, including playing at
the 1st Qatar F1 Grand Prix, the MotoGP, and the FIFA World Cup.
Remy is bilingual in French and English, which gives him a profound understanding of the challenges faced by
English as an Additional Language (EAL) learners. This empathy is one of the reasons he finds Qatar such an
incredible place to work. He has been a dedicated teacher since 2006 and has always been actively involved
in school shows. Alongside his colleagues, he has produced and participated in major productions such as
Beauty and the Beast, Les Misérables, We Will Rock You, High School Musical, the Wizard of Oz here at
Hamilton amongst many more. Remy enjoys sharing his passion for performing with his students, fostering
their confidence to perform in front of their peers and the general public. and also inspiring their sense of
curiosity and open–mindedness. Remy believes that Music, and more generally speaking the Arts are a very
good medium for students to ignite a passion, to discover their purpose, and to realise their potential.
In his spare time, Remy enjoys playing music of course, but also reading graphic novels, playing video games,
learning about cinema, and exploring different countries and cultures. As a French native, he has a great
appreciation for good food from all around the world.
