Located on a magnificent campus in Mesaimeer, with world-class facilities, including Doha’s largest school theatre to host music and arts performances, extensive sports facilities, ICT suites equipped with the latest digital learning technology, and incredible outdoor learning spaces.
Hamilton aims to foster passion, purpose and potential in its students. Their bespoke international curriculum and diverse learning opportunities will ignite children’s curiosity and thirst for knowledge.
Prepare your child for the future with an international education at Hamilton
The Hamilton International School offers an innovative and bespoke international education to children from ages 3 through to 10 (Pre-KG to Grade 5) in its first year of operation, growing each year to become an all-through secondary school.
Hamilton is part of the International Schools Partnership (ISP), a UK-owned group of 40 schools, which includes Park House English School, one of Doha’s oldest and most respected schools. Park House has 25 years of exceptional education in Qatar, and through this reciprocal connection, Hamilton will collaborate and share educational best practices and nurture an extended school community.
The curricula offered at Hamilton include the International Early Years (IEYC) and International Primary Curriculum (IPC) in the primary years. The IEYC and IPC curriculum is taught in over 2,000 schools and 98 countries, making it a truly global and international curriculum. All teachers are native English speakers, are passionate about learning and bring with them many years of experience.
Hamilton students will be prepared for entry into the best international universities, as the school will offer a US-accredited high school diploma.
Students from Grades 9 to 12 and 10 will pursue the school-based curriculum. Students will be able to choose to complete country-specific exams, such as the SAT if required by their university of choice.
The main language at Hamilton is English, and Arabic will be taught to Arab nationals and international students as a foreign language in line with the Ministry of Education’s regulations. Spanish and French are also available to all students from Grade 1.
The Hamilton International School places the child at the center of everything it does, in a caring and inclusive environment. Hamilton’s ethos is that every child will experience Amazing Learning – the school recognizes student diversity and nurtures every child’s progress, academically, socially and emotionally, so that they constantly improve and can participate fully in learning activities, consolidating their knowledge, skills and understanding.
Teachers will work closely with each child to build their confidence, independence, and determination, enabling them to become flexible and resilient young adults, capable of embracing the real world and its future challenges.
Hamilton’s approach to education is broad, balanced and innovative; children learn through collaborative group problem solving, questioning, explaining and demonstration techniques. There is an emphasis on cross-curricular learning so that children make links between different subjects. This enables them to apply their skills and knowledge in a meaningful context, facilitating the development of essential critical thinking and communication skills. All of this is underpinned by academic rigor.
“The school is amazing – I didn’t realise how big it was! The opportunities that my child will be given at this school are better than anything I have seen in Qatar.”
Hamilton founding parent
Parents’ reactions to the school have been extremely positive – not only are they impressed with the sheer size of the school and the quality of Hamilton’s facilities, but they are also confident with what Hamilton’s curriculum will mean for their children in terms of the quality of teaching and learning that Hamilton will offer, and the opportunities it will open for their children’s future education and careers.
An extensive music, arts and performing arts program, underpinned by Qatar’s biggest school-based theatre
Hamilton is very proud to announce that their brand-new campus includes a state-of-the-art theatre, the biggest school-based theatre in Qatar, with an auditorium and balcony to seat over 850 guests, an orchestra pit, a large stage, and a fully equipped production room, enabling the school to nurture a fully-fledged performing arts program, as well as host music and arts performances.
The school also has exceptional music and production facilities with soundproof rooms, practice rooms, and a sound editing suite, enabling its students to fully experience and appreciate all aspects of producing and executing a performance.
“Music and the arts are an important part of a child’s education and development, giving children opportunities to explore their creativity, appreciate diversity, and develop their confidence.”
Hamilton has already collaborated with an international performing arts group to showcase the facilities and provide a glimpse into the breadth and quality their arts program will offer. On Friday August 23, to inaugurate the ‘Hamilton Theatre’, the school hosted Gotta Sing! a musical theatre experience group from the UK which helps people develop skills through singing and performing.
The team comprises of Greg Arrowsmith, a conductor, composer and pianist with over 10 years’ experience working on both the concert circuit and in musical theatre in London’s West End, and Joanne Corrigan, former BBC live program editor and producer with over 20 years’ experience. The duo was invited by Hamilton to teach founding children and families how to sing and produced Hamilton’s first musical theatre performance.
After school performing arts classes will include ballet, hip hop, musical theatre, cheerleading and music (where children will have the opportunity to learn an instrument of their choice). Potentially, if there is demand, other activities will include Zumba, yoga, dance workout, jazz and tap.
Hamilton will continue to work with both local and international organizations to bring the very best arts experiences to the school.
Sports, physical education and extra-curricular activities
Sports and physical education are an integral part of a child’s education and help to nurture children’s health and confidence, as well as collaboration and teamwork. Hamilton’s extra-curricular program is designed to further enhance the quality of education children will experience.
Hamilton offers a comprehensive extra-curricular sports program that complements their extensive facilities, which include a dedicated indoor sports center (with a full-sized basketball court), two swimming pools, tennis courts, dance studios and a fitness center, and outdoor facilities including a professional standard football pitch and athletics track, as well as tiered seating for large sporting events.
In June, Hamilton signed an agreement with H2O Swim Club in Doha to implement and run their afterschool swimming programs, which will be available not only to Hamilton students, but to children from the wider Doha community. H2O have an excellent reputation and have been running swimming programs at schools in Doha since 2008.
Then in July, Hamilton announced a partnership with Premier League Football Academy, who will be operating out of Hamilton. Headed by Chuck Martini, a former Premier League football player who played for Tottenham Hotspur, Wimbledon FC and Leicester City FC, they also have branches in Oman and Thailand, and are set to bring a high quality of football coaching to the school.
Preparing children for a digital future
Today’s children are now entering school as fully-fledged digital natives embracing technology from an early age. It is unsurprising then that technology is playing an increasingly central role in the classroom – not just in ICT and Computing, but in many other subjects as well. Through Digital Learning, the use of technology can provide many benefits in the classroom for children.
Hamilton has some of the best digital learning technology available in Doha. The school has a comprehensive network-driven series of smart TVs throughout the campus that are controlled from its media room, serving as a modern noticeboard system. Each classroom also has its own Smart Board, with iPads and tablets available for classroom use.
In the future, Hamilton will have a news/TV studio and green screen room, complete with cameras, where students will be able to develop their media skills by producing short films and news segments for THIS TV, broadcast daily throughout the school. Projects will come alive in the MakerSpace STEM Lab where students can use their creativity to showcase what they have learned.
Of course, we know how much children enjoy using technology, therefore it is important to note that, while technology is important and can help reinforce learning, so too is that children learn for themselves when technology is appropriate and necessary – it shouldn’t be all consuming. Hamilton will ensure that the right balance is achieved by providing children with ‘real-life’ practical opportunities to learn, so that they appreciate the value of not always being in the digital world – children are encouraged to be responsible digital citizens.
International Schools Partnership
Hamilton is part of the International Schools Partnership (ISP), a UK-based company that also owns Park House English School, one of Doha’s oldest and most respected schools. Being part of this group provides Hamilton with outstanding international learning connections, resources for collaboration such as the ISP Learning Hub (a global digital hub that enables educators and administrators to connect and collaborate, as well as take courses for further study), quality assurance and excellent governance. Additionally, secondary students from ISP schools across the globe are provided with unique enrichment opportunities, including the Future Global Leaders Conference, Model United Nations and the Buddy Exchange Program.
