The Hamilton International School “Hamilton”, a brand-new school located in Mesaimeer, Doha, launched yesterday its on-campus theatre, the largest in Qatar, with a theatrical production titled “An Afternoon at the Theatre”, by West End London.
Hamilton, part of International Schools Partnership (ISP), a UK-based owner and operator of 40 schools globally, collaborated with “Gotta Sing!” led by Greg Arrowsmith, a Musical Director from the West End for the London Palladium pantomimes, and Joanne Corrigan, an experienced ex-BBC live programme editor and producer, to host a series of workshops throughout the day for children, teaching them about singing, mastering their vocals, and other aspects of performing arts.
The workshops concluded with a breath-taking performance by more than xxxx children who brought the stage to life and impressed the audience with their talents.
Terry Senior, Hamilton Principal, said: “The day was quite exciting for all of us. We are so proud to launch our school theatre on such a high note. The workshops were a success and the children enjoyed it tremendously and performed remarkably well on stage.”
“At Hamilton, arts and cultural programmes are central to our rounded educational approach. We will continue to collaborate and partner with the best in the field to ignite the students’ passion for learning and discover their limitless potential,” he added.
The Hamilton International School Theatre is the largest in Qatar with an auditorium that can accommodate 850 guests, with a VIP balcony, an orchestra pit, and state-of-the-art backstage facilities.
During the day, school guests also enjoyed a variety of fun activities and delicious food. The Principal and teachers engaged with families and took them on tours of the school facilities which include: an indoor sports centre with a full-sized basketball court, two swimming pools, tennis courts, dance studios, fitness centre and a seating area for large sporting events. The outdoor sports area includes a professional standard football pitch and an athletics track, setting a new standard for physical education in Doha.
The theatrical performance event comes following the launch of the school campus, which took place last week during a huge Community Fair for parents and children, that introduced them to Hamilton staff members and the curriculum of this new academic year.
Hamilton International School offers the International Early Years (IEYC) and International Primary Curriculum (IPC), which is taught in over 2,000 schools across 98 countries. Students at Hamilton will eventually graduate with a US-accredited high school diploma.
Catering to students aged between 3 and 10 years, during its first year of operation, Hamilton plans to expand and become a pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12 school.
Hamilton is taking registrations for students from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 5 (Year 6) for its first academic year beginning September 2019.
